The School District of Philadelphia embarked on a $1.7 billion capital improvement program. In order to manage this program, it hired a number of local construction management firms in a competitive process.

Athenian joined with the Don Todd/LF Driscoll team and was successful in winning a contract to manage the conversion of 28 K-6 schools into K-8 schools. This conversion was a key piece of the SDP’s initiative to eliminate its troubled middle schools.

The team successfully converted the first set of 4 schools over one summer, after which the project scope was changed ending the team’s involvement.
